Aardman Nathan Love Various Projects

Client: Aardman Nathan Love

Role: Character Design

Description: I worked for many years as a freelance character designer with Nathan Love, contributing to bids and projects for clients including Perdue, Nickelodeon, Dora the Explorer, Sweet ’N Low, Saucony, and Merck Pharmaceuticals. Each project involved developing original visual explorations, concepts, styles, and themes, iterating through multiple revisions, and ultimately delivering high-quality television advertising.

Perdue

I was brought on to reimagine the visual direction of a Perdue commercial, drawing inspiration from the brand’s classic ads featuring Jim Perdue while translating the concept into animation rather than live action. I designed the characters and environments, creating a fresh yet familiar look. The campaign was so well received that Perdue commissioned four additional ads.

Sweet’N Low

The client requested a highly ornamented, whimsical style. I designed the characters and backgrounds and also contributed to storyboards and overall concept development.

Big Red Monster

This bid was a fun opportunity to unleash my monster-filled imagination. Although the client ultimately chose a different direction, they loved the work—and a few years later returned to ask me to illustrate their children’s book, No More Monsters Under Your Bed!

Imfinzi

For this project, I was provided with existing artwork and visual styles for various viruses. I developed a cohesive visual system—adding characters, environments, and backgrounds—to complement the original art while preserving the overall aesthetic.

UBERA

For this project, I was provided with existing artwork and visual styles for various viruses. I developed a cohesive visual system—adding environments, product layout and backgrounds—to complement the original art while preserving the overall aesthetic.
